Plymouth Rock Assurance: Commute Times Heat Up with Interactive Map

The realtor assured you it’s just a 15-minute addition to your regular morning commute.
But how do you know for sure? Wondering about how long it really will take you to get to work before you take that new job?
Before you make up your mind and make a move to your next home or job downtown, you may want to first check out this nifty new feature from the popular real estate site Trulia, a commute time heat map.
Trulia recently added commute times to its neighborhood overviews that now cover crime stats, property values, and school locations. The commute heat map works the same way its other top-down maps and views do.
For example, you can check out your town or city and its surrounding areas, click onto your area on the map, and select the heat overlay you want to see. You can select “public transit” (where it’s available) or “driving” options to get a more precise sense of your journey, and choose your best course of action depending on how red (slow) or green (fast) you want to be.
As one blogger notes on Trulia’s site, the ramifications of this new use of existing technology are pretty huge. Think about how powerful this information can be: whether you’re an experienced native looking for the best way to plan your errands on a particular day, a new-to-the-scene homeowner looking for the fastest commute, or a tourist looking to map out your sightseeing route, this is a fun, smart and highly efficient way to map out how you want to get around, thanks to so many helpful added layers of information.
Google Maps, Garmin and your GPS-enabled brethren take note, because we may not need you so much anymore!
